Welcome to what promises to be an exciting winter/spring session of Vocal Latitudes. It’s going to be action-packed.
We will be singing some wonderful and eclectic repertoire, including a beautiful piece by Ola Gjelo (great contemporary choral composer), along with music from the jazz, gospel, pop, renaissance and African traditions.
We also have a number of special events planned. In March, we will co-host a workshop with choral conductor/composer and songwriter Linda Morrison from Montreal. The full day workshop on Saturday, March 16 will focus on Gaelic and Gospel songs and will be followed by a concert by Linda and the workshop choir on Sunday, March 17 in the afternoon. More information to come on that.
We have been approached about a performance opportunity at the National Music Centre. (Feb 23, at 1pm)
We will be performing in the ProArts at Noon series at the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer in May – it’s the best acoustic space for choirs in Calgary, and will of course will present our own concert in May as well. And it’s not confirmed yet, but we may be singing with a well-known Canadian singer-songwriter in the Fish Creek concert series.
I look forward to seeing you all (and some new faces too) on Tuesday, January 8 for the start of new session of Vocal Latitudes.
